The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has postponed class X and XII board examinations for Wednesday in the violence hit areas of Delhi
The examinations have been postponed at a total of 86 centres in North-East Delhi on Wednesday in view of the violence in these areas.
The board took a last minute decision to postpone the examinations in these areas and announced it late on Tuesday.
In view of the situations, the Delhi government had requested the board to postpone the examinations in the North East area of Delhi on Monday, and reiterated its request on Tuesday as the violence spread further
“Based on the request of directorate of education, government of Delhi, and to avoid inconvenience to students, staff and parents. The board has decided to postpone the examinations for February 26 in North East part of Delhi,” the CBSE secretary Anurag Tripathi said in a statement.
However, examinations in rest of Delhi will be conducted as scheduled.
“The next date of examination for affected students will be notified shortly,” Tripathi added.
Deputy chief minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia, while announcing that all schools in the violence hit areas of Delhi will remain closed on Tuesday, had stated that he had requested Human Resource Development minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank on Monday to also postpone the board examinations of the CBSE school students in violence hit areas.
